Science and paranormal -  Telepathy works???

Where is scientific evidence for paranormal? There is evidence for telepathy
( Vinko Rajic telepathy-vinko-rajic.blogspot.com and maybe Uri Geller )
and few other really strong cases . Some Universities ( University of California , University of Southampton , Edinburgh University
and some others) make research on but they do not make research on
really people that can use telepathy, strange , why?
The Pentagon’s Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is currently developing technology that will allow soldiers of
the future to communicate via telepathic mind signals. It is a program program called Silent Talk.

Some showman   offer ( James Randi ) 1000000$ for any paranormal evidence, but Randi is just talking but do not want
to talk to some really telepath.
Vinko Rajic can use telepathy and some other things , many people know about it. They make some
paranormal telepathic show in Sweden and Norway with Vinko.
Show is organized by some bustard - idiot media there and some dirty perverts Croats.

CIA’s “remote viewing” , “Stargate Project”, give some evidence but that could be just a bluff.
Guys that worked on that project talk like idiots , why?

Grigori Rasputin is very good evidence for paranormal , he could use “mind control”, he has been murdered
because his attempt to take over Russia.

Can it be that some Schizophrenics are just telepathic, many Schizophrenic believe in telepathy.
Schneider’s symptoms of the first rank are similar to telepathy. Brain signals can travel on very long distance
and if some people can connect each other for short time then they can make each other “Schizophrenic”.

This could be something for physics to think about. If you have one person like Vinko Rajic and you use telepathy
with him and you take all distances on which you could send and receive from him , I think it would be possible
to find out what kind of waves transmit telepathy. Placing telepathic person under different kind of metal shield could
make it possible to find out what kind of waves transmit telepathy.

OK, what you think how can telepathy work? What kind of waves transmit it or is it some strange quantum theory behind it.

Please ask your smart friend about this?

While it might not be true of everybody, there are certainly some people who only use 5% of their brain.

You assume because Uri Gellar appears to bend spoons on TV (which several other magicians also do) that he is in someway psychic/telepathic?!

I assume you also believe David Copperfield can also genuinely walk through the Great Wall of China? Many illusionists can perform these tricks. The clue is in the word “illusion"ist.

I too am telepathic. No, it’s true. The other day I walked towards an automatic door and willed it to open, to my surprise the doors magically parted to let me pass. Luckily for you mere mortals, I choose to use my powers for good rather than evil.

PS. For a first post on a forum full of scientific thinkers, I find you either very brave or one of the above 5%.

I tend to be more psychic.
I know what Steve is thinking: “What does this thread have to do with chatbots?”

wink

lol Ken, you are amazing. You’ll be sawing women in half next smile

I make predictions myself.  I predict this thread will get even sillier.

See Victor, we’re all psychic here!

In fact, I predict that Dave, the forum Nazi will be here shortly, to…

Oh wait! There he is!

Oh, wait! That’s me! smile

Never mind. Carry on, all. wink

Honestly tell me you saw that coming! I dare you.

People don’t recognize trolls when they see one?

I have this power too! the Shopping doors open to me!

I think the name of this thread could be “Pseudoscience for Dummie Trolls” ... And I also predict that this discussion will stop before it becomes weirder ...

I think this topic shouldn’t actually be posted to Chatbots.org unless someone explains what it has to with chatbots. As we’ve got so many responses, it has probably ticked something. Let me try to write down what I think this has to do with chatbots.org.

Some background first: Until a few years ago, I redirected all thoughts like this immediately in the trash can. However, the last couple of years I have had some telephatic experiences myself (through meditation), which changed my mind. I was able to describe the childhood of someone I didn’t know in great detail, which was very scary, until I started to accept these kind of capabilities as a fact of life.

He are some twists I noted down in the past (before Chatbots.org started to take all my time) (and before the most impressing telepathic experiences by the way).

It is not new at all science proves telepathy. The best seller The Field by Lynne McTaggart is full of scientific evendience that telepathy exists:
http://www.amazon.com/Field-Quest-Secret-Force-Universe/dp/006143518X/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpi_1?tag=chatbotsorg-20

However, we are not able (yet) to make technology that taps into that field, although progress is made. In many cases however, it’s would change the commonly accepted paradigm of the scientific community, and worse, it threatenes existing powers in society for example in the oil industry or pharmaceuticals. Suppose we could really cure people from cancer in just a few days, or find the very best solution to replace all anti-biotics? Or a way to ‘tap’ energy from ‘the field’. That would destroy whole industries. They tends to by patents, and put the patents in a desk drawer, forever.

Still, what does it have to do with chatbots? Well, in my opinion, chatbot have to do with communication. Communication between humans has the purpose to transfer thoughts, emotions, attitudes. There are many models you can use to optimize communication with your conversational partner, but one of them in NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming (the ‘other’ NLP). Essential is this communication technique is to ‘synchronize’ with your conversational partner, in very great detail. You actually need to ‘tap’ into the energy of the other. And that’s what telepathy is about. When you able to ‘tap’ into the energy of the other, words are just an illustration. The intention has already come across. Telepathy is the most powerful form of communication, works over any distance, and even with other animal species.

It’s a weird phenomenon, but I believe that once strong AI is fact of life, that it will all be about spiritual connections:

Fatima, you seem to not be very psychic after all. Neither am I—definitely didn’t see this thread coming. smile

I assume that the reader is familiar with the idea of extra-sensory perception, and the meaning of the four items of it, viz. telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition and psycho-kinesis. These disturbing phenomena seem to deny all our usual scientific ideas. How we should like to discredit them! Unfortunately the statistical evidence, at least for telepathy, is overwhelming. It is very difficult to rearrange one’s ideas so as to fit these new facts in. Once one has accepted them it does not seem a very big step to believe in ghosts and bogies. The idea that our bodies move simply according to the known laws of physics, together with some others not yet discovered but somewhat similar, would be one of the first to go.

This argument is to my mind quite a strong one. One can say in reply that many scientific theories seem to remain workable in practice, in spite of clashing with E.S.P.; that in fact one can get along very nicely if one forgets about it. This is rather cold comfort, and one fears that thinking is just the kind of phenomenon where E.S.P. may be especially relevant.

Daryl Bem provides experimental evidence for retrocausality: http://dbem.ws/FeelingFuture.pdf

“Data are presented for 4 time-reversed effects: precognitive approach to erotic stimuli and precognitive avoidance of negative stimuli; retroactive priming; retroactive habituation; and retroactive facilitation of recall. All but one of the experiments yielded statistically significant results [...]”

Rupert Sheldrake also reports experimental evidence: http://www.sheldrake.org/Research/telepathy/

Also others such as Roger Nelson http://archived.parapsych.org/members/r_d_nelson.html

I’ve learned more in this thread about users on this site than any other.

  [ # 15 ]

@Robert, I would not rely so heavily on such “statistically significant results,” no matter how appealing. Mis-application of statistical techniques is rampant in the medical and behavioral sciences in general, and Bem’s work is at most a telling example of such methodological flaws.

@Toby: ...agreed.
