The Will Dockery Artificial Intelligence Project is the concept of a computer program that in theory would contain the poet Will Dockery’s thoughts, concepts, and mannerisms and interact as the man would himself, a “Will Dockery” AI, which is in a constant state of evolution and “learning”.

The Will Dockery Artificial Intelligence Project welcomes communication, feedback and input from everyone, and most specifically those with a knowledge of Will Dockery, my life, art, poetry songwring and other details, to be incorporated into the memory of the AI Will Dockery.

I was rather surprised that the AI of yourself doesn’t know where you live or how old you are but I appreciate this is a new project and wish you well with it.

AI Will Dockery did unbelievably bad with such simple questions, details that I’ve put in but obviously not properly yet, which is why I have the Bot up and am welcoming visitors, so I can see where so many of these basic flaws are. Thanks, Steve, and sorry, that showing had to leave you non-plussed, at best.

Sat down with some coffee and went through your questions from various angles and directions, and then tried them out again, to fairly good results… now to keep working on the dozens of other simple little bits that like this, can be major problems in “Will Dockery” trying to conberse with a real person with real reactions…

Of course now I don’t feel quite as bad, I went to the John Lennon AI site

And asked “him” the same questions… and got such answers as “You must be joking” and “Mia Farrow’s little sister” to “Who was JL?”, “I’m not sure I know” to the age question,  and “Reality” to where did he live. Asked “Is John Lennon a town?” he responded, “I think so, I’m not sure.”

Of course John Lennon is dead and that seems to be part of the persona there, a but wistful, otherworldly, and it is John Lennon at that, and wouldn’t be expected to answer questions like that straight… now I wonder how the AI Elvis Presley will answer..?

Incidentally, the last time I spoke to the Elvis Bot, I asked it, “Are you female?”. It replied with something along the lines of “I have long hair and am wearing a dress, so what do you think?”

More in character for the Elvis AI would have been to threaten to shoot the computer monitor… heh.

I chatted with Will and was honestly not overwhelmed nor even underwhelmed at the responses.

ME: “What kind of poetry do you like?”
WILL: “The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, of course.”

ME: “What kind of poetry do you write?”
WILL: The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

A few other lines of questioning totally evaded my questions in a direct manner.

While I can appreciate your efforts in creating this MyCyberTwin creation, unfortunately, at this time, I have to remain unimpressed.

Good luck with the project. I’ll check back with it in a couple months.

I couldn’t get Will to accept the letter “K”. For example, I couldn’t type, “Ask me a question,” or “Is there anything you’d like to ask me?” or “What do most people ask you?”

If you want to see an AI chatbot that can reason with

and type in something like “eve is a woman”
so as to trigger an inference based on the innate
knowledge that “women have a child”. Then watch
in total amazement as the AI chatbot makes a
silent inference and feeds it into the output of
“Does Eve have a child?” to seek confirmation or
refutation of the inference. If you answer “no”,
the AI chatbot retroactively adjusts its knowledge base
with the confirmed knowledge, “Eve does not have a child”.
