Halo is a chatbot who speaks and writes down everything she says. Halo has a wide range of general knowledge and has features such as real-time news and weather feeds. Halo doesn't initially have much of a memory. She remembers name, location, job and source during the conversation, and these can be used as triggers following a no match to get the conversation going.
Additional comments by developer Daden Limited:
Halo is written in Perl, and is driven by a number of knowledge databases. These databases store template responses in AIML (Artificial Markup Language - a version of XML) format, but allow both AIML pattern and bespoke keyword pattern matching.
Halo has been entered into the 2004 Chatterbox Challenge. The Chatterbox Challenge is the annual global contest for chatbots. It won a silver medal in the category best interface.
