newline & system commands

Hello again.

It seems the system ignores the newline command if placed after a period, for example, to separate paragraphs in long answers.

When I call system commands, after the successful call, I’m getting a ” 0 ” printed in the output. How can I prevent that?

Thank you!

1. newlines. This is not my experience. I need more data.

u: (test crash)  I love you. \n do you love me $$tmp = system(“dir *”)
The system did generate a newline in the output buffer.

2. system command. ASSIGN the result somewhere. Otherewise by default it goes to the output buffer.

For me that test code prints all in one line. It works if I remove the period after “you”. I just checked that it doesn’t work for ? but it works for !

the system’s zero, of course. got it.
