We are using PhP sessions to define a session between the user and the website.
The session duration length is unlimited. However, for statistical purposes, we report session activity in timeframes of 24 hours. Activity in measure on day 1, is regarded as another sessions as activity in day 2. This needs to be done in order to treat users who turn off their computers at night identical to user who leave computer turned on and their browsers open.
