github repository for ChatScript !

What do you think about place your sources into github repo?

I think community can help you to improve your code.

Make more fast bugfix, fork, etc.

If you need help with git wellcome!

+1

Not sold on doing that yet.  I am not interested in forked versions and I don’t think bugfixes will be faster. The community currently has complete access to the source if they want to suggest improvements to code.

You can do it just for fun. And see.

Since all the data is there, YOU can do it for fun. For me it would not be fun.

I create the repo with last sources v3.6

https://github.com/vinnitu/chatscript

Please give me your public key and I will give you full access to repo.
And you can push changes (if you want of cause).

We should switch to private emails now… Send me an email and since I don’t have a public key at present, point me to how you want me to create one.

As I already have an active presence on GitHub, and am currently involved with ChatScript (however minimally), I’ve had the ability to create a repo there at any time I so chose, and yet I did not. The primary reason for this was the fact that creating a repo there had already been discussed, and since Bruce indicated an unwillingness to maintain ChatScript at two separate venues at the time, I felt it best to respect his choice. I also happen to agree with the reasoning. GitHub is a great place to keep open source repositories for projects such as ChatScript, but so is SourceForge, and maintaining a “war on two fronts”, so to speak, is tedious.

Just thought I’d chime in here. smile

Indeed. thanks.  I have no objection to having the sources in two places, but I have no interest in maintaining it in both. If Victor wants to mirrors sourceforge contents to github, I have no issue.

  [ # 9 ]

I respect your opinion both.

But on sourceforge has not any svn repo. Just files to download.
Of Course you can use sf svn! But use!

PS: i prefer git to svn
PSS: if i can help with svn - no problem!

  [ # 10 ]

So, since I’m not giving write access, what do you get from SVN that is not available at present in Sforge?

  [ # 11 ]

diff at least

and more usable development process for you ofcause

  [ # 12 ]

Also interested in Bruce’s question, but I experienced a parsing error on the post above^. raspberry Care to elaborate?

  [ # 13 ]

I don’t see a more usable development process for me (can’t say about all the users, just for me).
I always want a zip archive of every release I make, and I usually daily make a dated zip archive of the system. So I’m already zipping everything.  Putting up the zip with doc changes, version file, etc, is easy. Anything else is just an extra step.
