ChatScript as Windows Service or scheduled task

Hi,
First, sorry if this has been answered before, the forum is crashing for me all the time, so I may missed something.

I would like to have the server, the following command “chatscript.exe port=1024 userlog”, started when my windows server is loading.
I could only think of two reasonable options: run chatscript as windows service or run it as a scheduled task.
Both didn’t work for me.
Have anyone tried this and can suggest how to do it?

Thanks,
Vlad

How are you setting it up as a service, Vlad? Last I knew, there were a couple of ways to run a program as a service, so there may be an unexplored option or two here. smile

On windows, in order to run an exe as a service it has to implement ServiceMain . I tried but it seems that is not the case for chatscript.exe.
There are some other options, for example using SrvStart app, which is supposed to take any exe and run it as a service, didn’t work for me.

Another option was to run it as a scheduled task which starts when the server rebooted, but that doesn’t work as well.

Maybe it is somehow related to the parameters that I’m sending the chatscript? port and log.
I’m probably missing something.

Give NSSM a try. I’ve used this for exactly what you’re trying to do and I’ve had no issues at all with the process. Holler if you have questions or trouble.
