Personalityforge reference

Hi Bruce,

In your document http://chatscript.sourceforge.net/Documentation/Pattern_Matching_for_Natural_Language_Applications.pdf

You have a comment in the reference section to personalityforge. As you otherwise point out a number of weaknesses in AIML can you provide some more details to your comment?
And how would you compare pesonalityforge to chatscript (other than the obvious it being a hosted service)?

Thanks,
Bora

I consider personality forge to be better than aiml, in part because of PF’s plug-ins. AIML is acquiring a rough plug-in capability, which will help close the gap. PF is also good at building into the engine some useful things like some specific interjections and things like xfavorites which aiml lacks (and ChatScript makes available as user-accessible or user-scriptable items).

On the other hand, ChatScript still has many more capabilities for building powerful large-scale applications. A much broader pattern match capability, the ability to author material in topics that are completely self contained, fact triples and query language, self-verification, introspection, programmable control structure including control over how input is preprocessed, output scripting as a full programming language with loops, numeric handling, etc.
