The Chatterbot Collection Reloaded.

@Roger: I personally believe that nobody uses the DMOZ these days, but Google appreciates the links mentioned there, it still has high page ranks. That one of the reasons a site like http://www.chat-bot.com is listed on top when you enter ‘chat bot’. Can you believe that’s Google in 2011?

Dave Morton - Jun 23, 2011:

Interestingly enough, I just received an email from the staff at DMOZ, denying my application to be an editor. The given reason was that the sample URL’s that they requested I give were unacceptable due to the fact that I’m affiliated with them both. Well, given how involved I am in the AI community, I would be hard pressed indeed to come up with a single site that I’m not affiliated with, let alone a pair of them. smile

The DMOZ is alive! That’s the good news. How shall we continue? Shall we ask a ‘regular’ member from our community to apply?

Last time I checked “chatbot” or “chat bot” in Google, my Mitsuku was number 1. grin

Odd. I just checked Google a moment ago, and didn’t see Mitsuku’s URL anywhere in the first 100 listings. She’s mentioned in the 11th link, but that’s mousebreaker’s site, claiming that Mitsuku is a mousebreaker bot.

Incidentally, chatbots.org was the 21st entry in the list.

That’s strange. I wonder if it’s country related? Yes I wrote Mitsuku for the Mousebreaker games website many moons ago and she has just grown and grown since then.

I would have to conclude that it’s country oriented, then, because that first listing in your screenshot is the 11th link here in the States. Other bots are ranked higher here, such as Chomsky, ALICE and Jabberwacky. Even ELIZA ranks up there. (ELIZA? Really?!)

It’s not just country orientated, google keeps track of a lot of things: I get a different query result with google on my machine compared to my sister’s and mother’s (that’s accross the street and 2 below LOL ). At first, I thought you had to be logged in with google for it to modify the search results, but no, it’s pretty clever in changing the results depending on what it ‘thinks’ you want to see. Granted, most of the time they are right.

related to everything indeed. We use specific tools to measure our search engine positions in Google and other SE’s on synonyms, like virtual human, and these supposed to give the ‘neutral’ positions.
