This is a rather low priority request, but I thought I’d make it anyway. I think it would be great if we had a “Preview” button, in addition to the “Submit” button. This image illustrates what I’m referring to. So whaddaya think? Yes? No? Maybe?

By the way, I like the countdown timer on the edit button here. VERY nice idea!

What I actually would like to do, is to more ‘advanced reply’ and ‘reply’. The advanced reply has many many many options, that are never used, while the fast reply does not have any option at all, and many people are looking for options (like the preview, which exists on the advanced reply).

Thus preview? Yes! Version 2.9 !

I think that it’s a great idea to give our members the ability to edit their posts for spelling errors or omissions, though I know that some folks have misused it in the past. I’m wondering though, if there’s some way to give an admin (not a moderator) the option of disabling post editing on a per-user basis. A great many other forum scripts have this as an option for admins, so I know that (in general) it’s possible. Whether it’s practical to add that feature to version 2.9/3.whatever is another matter. I just thought I would pose the question, and see where it goes from there.

dave: as soon we’ve finished, I’ll write the specifications for 2.9 and discuss this document in very detail with you. You have acccess to the pending specifications document anyway, don’t you? (check: you didn’t, but now you do). The top part, 2.8 specifications, are now final and Arthur is now working on it. In the mean time, we can add and edit stuff in 2.9, 3.0, 3.1 etc. It’s really an ungoing document.
