AIML + Bot framework (c#)?

Hi, my name is David and I’m the developer of Florence (a healthcare chatbot based on the Microsoft bot framework: https://florence.chat/). Before I developed Florence, I played a little bit with Program O and AIML. What I am missing are these huge AIML files, which give your bot instantly the possibility to do a little bit of small talk.
Now my questions: Is there the possibility to integrate AIML into the bot framework? Did someone try this before? And does it even make sense?

Hi, David, and welcome to chatbots.org. smile

What you’re asking does, indeed, make sense. However, I have no experience with the MBF, so don’t really have a useful response for you regarding integrating AIML into it. Perhaps someone else here has played with MBF before, and can give you a better answer.

Thank you for your reply. As soon as I have a little bit more time, I will see if I can come up with a solution myself. I will keep you updated on the progress.

From what I read, one needs to use the Node.js or .Net framework.

While a small bit of the format seems similar it is also quite different in layout structure.

The AIML files contain a lot of info but transporting that from here to there might be a very large step that not many are willing or able to take.

I was surprised to see the number and diversity of these MBF bots but whether they catch on by the masses remain to be seen.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link, Jasson (and welcome to chatbots.org, BTW!). I’m confident they will prove useful. smile
