Forum links are broken

In this posting a link is broken whilst it actually should be a clickable link:

http://www.chatbots.org/ai_zone/viewthread/137/P45/#564

The same counts for URL’s like this:

Is it possible to prove a negative

The above post is for archive purposes.  It does not fully work since the forum is urldecoding % 2 0 space character encoding in the URL variable.

Even the code tag is being urldecoded.

PHP function reference for urldecode:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.urldecode.php

The safest way to post long URLs is with the <a> button.

The forum is not necessarily urldecoding the url ... the whole message is parsed in a way that replaces %20 with spaces.

I’ve asked about it in the EE forum. It happens there too, by the way.

The first example above is just an URL which is pasted in the text (without spaces), and the second is added through a [url][]/urlstatement. I actually believe people should be able to add their hyperlinks and it should work seamlessly, even better than on the EE forums.

Arthur,

Thank you.  Your workaround does work.

Erwin, thanks for the tech support.

I’ll update the links in the posts

I just found out that this bug has been reported to Ellislab (creators of Disussion Forum software) and they are investigating a solution.

For more information see: http://expressionengine.com/bug_tracker/bug/12693/

Arthur,

bbcode click → Perhaps they would appreciate your workaround

html click → Perhaps they would appreciate your workaround

code:

bbcode click &rarr[url=http://www.chatbotcontest.com/programE/?said=Perhaps+they+would+appreciate+your+workaround?]Perhaps they would appreciate your workaround?[/url]

html click &rarr; <a href="http://www.chatbotcontest.com/programE/?said=Perhaps+they+would+appreciate+your+workaround?">Perhaps they would appreciate your workaround?</a

It works for both html and bbcode (for robots)...  You’re a super star guru !

Actually this thread is about two bugs. Here’s the other one:
