Expertise: PhD research in Embodied Conversational Agents in Health

In 2009 I have begun a higher degree by research (HDR) PhD in the field of Computer Science and Health Informatics entitled “Embodied Conversational Agents as a Health Professional Tool”. My focus in the investigation of how ECA’s, which are a branch of Artificial Intelligence, can be harnessed to improving individuals health outcomes through;

Helping people to find reliable health information
Assisting Health Professionals mange their patients

In November 2008 I completed my Masters of Management Information Systems, at a distinction average under the auspices of the University of South Australia UNISA, the Mawson Lakes campus. My Principal Supervisor and mentor at UNISA is Dr. Jan Stanek and my Research Degree Co-ordinator is Dr Jiuyong Li.
In my field of fulltime employment I am responsible for the South Australian Dental Service as the State ICT manager. My wealth of experience comes from having worked in the Health Services including Hospitals, Nursing Homes in South Australia for 30 years in senior management positions in areas such as Administration, Finance, Medical Records and Computing. I have also held committee positions on various health, fund raising, medical specialist and volunteer groups.
