Albert One, a response emulator developed by Robby Garner in 1997, was the winner of the 1998 and 1999 Loebner Prize Contests. It's popularity is due to it's human-like behavior. Albert is listed in the 2001 Guinness Book of World Records as the most human computer program in the world. Albert is based on the framework of FRED, a series of conversation simulators dating back to 1978, and studies of human conversations derived from internet installations and prototypes developed in Robby's studio.
