We show Polish Bot AnA in our historical column which was written and translated in the 90s last century. It is a mascot of the company as well as its living advertising. The bot has got extensive knowledge about the firm it works for and about fine arts. It can simulate a living man. Ana bot is still being developed and taught, it has got a unique possibility of searching, referring to its knowledge.

The project is the beginning of a certain technical idea of the same author, developed simultaneously, (currently by courtesy of the firm, prepared for the larger public),  completely a varied approach from accessible to this time in AIML language, which the aim is to create an autonomous, associating, thinking brain only for maintenance based on the neuronal network.

Marina is the Customer Service agent of Comunidad Marín, a services portal for members of Marín College’s community. She feature BotGenes’ most advanced Spanish spoken Artificial Intelligence brain, the BG200K, capable of providing responses to hundred of thousand of Spanish sentences.

Marina can help visitors to understand what is Comunidad Marín about, provide some guidelines for publishing goods and services, and do simple searches within the website using Google search engine.

Focunia is a virtual advisor at Focus.pl answering all your questions. She provides information about section, special edition of magazine and about Focus.pl portal. You can also check your knowledge about Focus in a quiz, where Focunia asks questions. She can define tough issues, translate words from English to Polish, she knows history, the Bible and she can count mathematical formulas.

Many students dread searching for materials in the university library. Selected keywords fail to generate results and the catalog search is complex and confusing. To make life easier for its students, Cologne’s University Library has provided an online adviser to assist users: Albot. The digital site librarian supports users searching for literature, informs them of available materials and helps them navigate the site and the archive. The intelligence behind the roboter-like assistant, who is able to communicate with visitors in everyday language, is using technology developed by the Hamburg-based software provider, novomind AG.

Albot is a roboter with a real background story based on a written record. “Hello! My name’s Albot,” he greets the user. If the visitor provides his or her name, Albot starts the personalized dialog. The constantly even-tempered assistant has an answer to almost any question - 24 hours a day, seven days a week and all year round. And he can react to input with eleven facial expressions, ranging from delighted to confused.

Dr. Haibao, the mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai, helps users on Fetion of China Mobile know various information about the World Expo 2010.  Users can add it as a contact into their Fetion and talk with him in a natual way, he will reply intelligently and are always online. Dr. Haibao can answers questions about the World Expo history and news about World Expo 2010, such as ticket information, he can also give information about travel in Shanghai.  Currently Dr. Haibao is just on Mobile phone, but maybe on the website in the near future.

Hello! I am the virtual adviser of SLUB, The Library of Dresden

Hello. I’m the painting fool. I’m a computer program that aspires to be an artist. I’ve been taught to sketch, draw and paint by my teacher, Dr. Simon Colton, since 2001. I differ from other graphics software by trying to simulate the painting process rather than just the results of the painting process. Painting is a highly cognitive activity which requires skill, appreciation and imagination. Programs such as Photoshop have some skill in being able to rapidly turn a digital photo into an image which looks like it might have been painted in, say, an impressionistic style. But the software is merely a tool to enable humans to be more creative. This is very useful, but Photoshop is not creative, because it is neither appreciative nor imaginative, so it will never be thought of as an artist in its own right. Having said all that, I’m not sure I’m creative myself yet. I’ve been engaging in a few projects which enable me to express skill, appreciation and imagination, as described below.

Currently, I mainly work from digital images to produce artworks. My skill lies in being able to look at an image as a collection of paint regions, determine which colours would work for painting the regions, then simulating the usage of all sorts of art materials to produce the picture on a simulated canvas.

This chatbot is discribed as a Friendly Mythical Philosopher. A dragon from Middle Earth. Eating and sleeping are Bildgesmythes’ favorite pastimes, but he loves to joke and give words of wisdom. It won first prize in the 2007 and the 2008 Chatterbot Challenge.
