This virtual agent will help students at American universities become familiar with Microsoft Live@edu, a no-charge suite of online communication and collaboration tools for students, staff and alumni. The chatbot facilitates a competition that is part of Microsoft’s campaign to promote the company’s services for educational institutions.
By adding getlive@live.com as a contact in Windows Live Messenger, students can begin communicating with the chatbot and participate in the competition. Students will then receive a new question about Live@edu each day until an incorrect answer is received. The student with the longest chain of correct answers is eligible to win a variety of prizes including an Xbox 360. By participating in the contest, students not only have an opportunity to win great prizes, but also gain familiarity with the features of Microsoft Live@edu.
Additional comments by developer Ecreation:
We created this chatbot for Microsoft together with Rivet Global, it is our first chatbot that we created for a client outside the Netherlands. This project for Microsoft is our next step in the internationalization of Ecreation. More and more parties realize we possess specialist knowledge that can be applied worldwide.
